The route runs via Thrissur, Palakkad road, Kozhikode, Thamarassery ghat. These are the things that actually change how the day goes.

Leaving the airport after 1pm means doing Thamarassery ghat in the dark. We would rather start early or break the journey at Kozhikode.

Wayanad is spread out — Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery and Mananthavady are each about an hour apart. "Wayanad" is not a drop point; give us the town.

Edakkal caves close at 4pm and the last climb up starts around 3pm. Plan the arrival day accordingly.

This is a distance where the Innova earns its extra rate. Six hours in a Dzire with four adults and luggage is a long day for everyone.

Is it better to fly to Calicut for Wayanad?
Yes, if you have the choice — Kozhikode airport is about 90 km from Kalpetta against 250 from Kochi. If you are already landing at Cochin, we do the run regularly.
Which vehicle for a family going to Wayanad?
An Innova or Crysta. It is six hours each way and the ground clearance matters on the ghat. We will say so even though the Dzire would earn us less.
