Marari is fifteen minutes north of Alleppey town. If you are doing a houseboat the next morning, staying at Marari the night before works well and costs less than an Alleppey hotel.

The beach resorts are spread along four kilometres of coast road with no signage worth the name. Give us the property name.

This is a fishing beach, not a swimming one — there is an undertow and the boats come in at dawn. Watching the catch land at 6am is the actual attraction.

Alleppey is backwaters, not beach. If you want sand and quiet, Marari. If you want a houseboat, Alleppey. Most people do a night of each.
Can we swim at Marari?
With care and not far out — there is a real undertow and no lifeguards. Resort pools exist for a reason. The beach is for walking and watching the boats.
