The route runs via Aluva, Varapuzha, Vypin island. These are the things that actually change how the day goes.

Cherai is the shortest airport-to-beach run in Kerala. For a late landing with an early start the next day, it beats driving to Alleppey.

The beach and the backwater are separated by about two hundred metres of road. You can watch the sunset over one and the sunrise over the other.

It gets busy with day-trippers from Kochi at weekends. Midweek it is nearly empty.

The Vypin ferry is an alternative route but it queues badly. We take the road through Varapuzha unless you specifically want the ferry.
